Nothing beats a holiday vacation in the Smokies. The streets are alive with millions of twinkling lights, the trees are decorated with vibrantly colored leaves, and the mountains look simply picturesque in the distance. Not to mention the tons holiday-themed shows and events in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for families to enjoy.
The only hiccup when planning a holiday vacation in the Smokies is families may have a hard time figuring out what all they need to do to prepare for their adventure. To help theses guests out, we have decided to put together a couple tips to make vacation planning easier.
Where to Stay
The most important part of planning any family vacation in the Smokies is deciding where to stay. The perk of staying in a cabin is that visitors can enjoy all their favorite amenities of home while tucked away in a secluded mountain getaway. Thankfully, for guests choosing to stay with Hearthside Cabin Rentals, we have spacious Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg cabins that can accommodate nearly any family or group size. Our cabins can comfortably hold anywhere from two to 74 guests, all under the same roof. To see a full list of available cabins for your holiday, visit our cabins search page here.
What to Cook
Now that you know that you and your family have a nice and relaxing place to stay, here comes the fun part: deciding what to cook. Whether or not you and your family decide to go the traditional Thanksgiving route with a turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, or a more contemporary approach to the holiday, pre-planning is key. The first thing you will have to decide is what all from home you will need to bring with you to your cabin. Keep in mind that all cabins come equipped with a kitchen starter pack that includes silverware, glassware, some utensils and a few pots and pans, but you may want to bring a few extras just in case.
You will also want to decide on any non-perishable items you may want to bring from home. This can include spices, canned goods, drinks, and more. We all know how busy grocery stores can be around the holidays, so you want to pre-plan as much as possible to ensure that your vacation is nothing short of a relaxing experience.
An option to guests wanting to avoid long lines at the grocery store is the Smoky Mountain Grocery. A delivery grocery service that will do all your shopping for you, and have your items ready for you when you check into your Gatlinburg cabin for a small fee.
