The charming cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge offer a variety of romantic attractions and activities that couples are sure to love. When you stay at a 1 bedroom cabin from Hearthside Cabin Rentals, you will have the perfect homebase for enjoying everything the Smokies have to offer. To help you make the most of your getaway, we have put together a few tips for spending Valentine’s Day in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
1. Ride the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel
Since it opened in 2013, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel has been a can’t-miss attraction for couples visiting Pigeon Forge. Located at The Island shopping and entertainment complex, this 200-foot high Ferris wheel is one of the four tallest wheels in the United States! You and your sweetheart will love snuggling in one of the wheel’s cozy all-glass gondolas as you take in majestic views of the city of Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains. We suggest visiting The Island at night, so you can see the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel light up in a variety of beautiful colors.
No Valentine’s Day in Gatlinburg is complete without candy! If you’re searching for something sweet during your escape in the Smokies, be sure to stop by Aunt Mahalia’s. This legendary candy shop has been a fixture of the downtown Parkway for almost 80 years! Couples will find a wonderful selection of treats to choose from, including fudge, caramel apples, rock candy, taffy, divinity, chocolate-covered cherries, and so much more. Aunt Mahalia’s has a storefront at 708 Parkway and another location in the Mountain Mall.
3. See the Winterfest Lights
Although the holiday season has ended, Winterfest is still going strong in Pigeon Forge! Through the end of February, our Smoky Mountain city keeps its 5 million seasonal lights glowing for visitors to enjoy. These stunning LED displays feature flying pigeons, dripping icicles, vacationing bears, patriotic scenes, The Old Mill, and other creative designs. Couples will have a blast driving around town in the evening to see all of these gorgeous displays.
The Titanic Museum Attraction celebrates Valentine’s Day for the whole month of February! As part of the annual Sweetheart Month at the Titanic, the museum highlights the real-life love stories that took place on the historic ocean liner. If the epic romance between Jack and Rose from the 1997 Titanic movie captured your imagination, you will love exploring the Titanic Museum with your significant other.
